My internship with She’s Social: Week 10: Jamming to the music

Hi Blog world,

This week was a fun week! I got the opportunity to help pick music for an upcoming radio show. To do this I had to know the theme of the show; which was on cheating.

I got to listen to R&B and Rap; something that I normally don’t listen too, however I do listen to it on occasion. Some of the artists I choose for the show I had never heard of before. Other artists, like the rap artist Nelly, I have listened to before.

Because of this I was eagerly awaiting feedback. I did fine with it, and It was a fun assignment, and I hope I can do it again soon.

My internship with She’s social:Week 9:Preparing to contact the media

Hi Blog world,

This week I have been working on gathering contact information so we can send out our press releases.

I am enjoying this project because I get to see all the different kinds of magazines that are out there. This has reminded me that there are several places to write for, and if I work hard I can live my dream of being a writer.

To be honest, I see myself as a successful writer, spending most of my days living a very busy life, and being very independent.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 8: Learning about Marketing

Hi Blog world,

This week has been a very interesting one! I have learned a lot more about marketing and social media in the past week than I ever thought I would. I was able to listen in on a workshop, that had to do with press releases; now, I’ve taken a very basic Public Relation class when I was in college, so some of the stuff I had already knew, however some of the information I learn since college has changed, and it was nice to get more up to date information.

I am also excited for some upcoming workshops that I will be attending. I believe this will help me with learning more about social media and marketing. This will help me discover for sure, what I really want to do with my future.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 7: A Busy Week

This week has been a busy week. I worked on my Social Media Skills (which I love). I’m learning so much about marketing that I’m thinking about getting my Master’s degree in it one day.

I’ve also worked on some basic research. I’m starting to see the project coming together and I couldn’t be happier.

Today, I got to work with Social Media. I got to post a flyer about one of our upcoming events; I hope to improve this skill in the future. I really like working with social media. My favorite has to be Facebook followed by Twitter.

Last Week as an Intern…Really?

Hi Blog world,

I can’t believe that this week is my last week as an intern through the Division of Blind internship program. This opportunity has given me a chance to show off my skills, and to learn some new ones that I haven’t known about. What has influenced me the most was that I was able to get my confidence back. It’s been a long time overdue because I’ve been looking for a job ever since I graduated from The University of West Florida three years ago.

What I have liked most about my six weeks working here, as an Intern, is that I’ve been able to work on my: writing, editing, and social media skills. I have learned things about using Facebook to help with Marketing that I never thought about before.

To be honest, I am starting to think about one day getting my Master’s degree in Marketing. I think that it would be a good fit to go with my Journalism degree, and I think this will further my skills in social media.

During this time, I would like to thank the following people who have supported me during my internship: My supervisor, my co-workers, my grandparents,my job coach, and my best friends. You guys are amazing! Thank you!

Now, this is not going to end on a sad note! Because of my hard work, and our great working relationship with my supervisor she is offering me an extended internship! I’m excited to be able to stay on with this company, and to be able to continue to grow my skills as a journalist!

My internship with She’s Social: Week 5:Learning and growing even with setbacks

Hi Blog world,

Well, this week as an intern sure has been a wet one! In the Panhandle, of Florida, it sure does rain a lot, and that’s what it has done for most of this week. Because of that, my internet went down most of the day on Tuesday, and I had to re adjust my schedule to get my hours in.

This week was an exciting week of learning for me-I learned a more simplified way to save files into PDF’s. I sure wish I would’ve known this trick in college because it makes saving things a lot easier.

My favorite part of this week, was working with my co-worker, Sara, to pre-record my Nystagmus segment. You guys will be able to hear my segment on Real Women Radio when it comes out in November! I’m excited to tell my community about Nystagmus and what you guys can do to support this amazing group of people who are fighting to beat Nystagmus on a daily basis.
