My Internship with She’s Social: Week 20: Posting a video on Facebook

Hi Blog world,

This week for me was a short week, because I needed to take two days off. When I returned to my internship on Wednesday, I was eager to get back to work; this week, my supervisor had me share a video for an upcoming Christian concert that is going to be coming up in November.

To help reach the most people, my supervisor, had me reach the target of local audience and our surrounding county. To do this I have a technique.

We have groups that we follow on Facebook, and I go into our groups page and find groups that meet our goal; I write those groups down on a piece of paper. Then I go to the video click share in groups-type the group in and share.

This makes it very easy for me to do my work. It’s also very easy for me to keep track of who I shared the video with because I use Google Doc to keep track of all my work.

Another thing I did this week was manage the Facebook page for our site. On Wednesday I had over 100 e-mails to look at, yet most of them were just status updates.  Having a folder to put them in keeps me organized. I like to keep organized and it helps me reach my goals as an intern.

The last thing I did this week was listen to the Grown and Dating radio show. This week show was on intelligence. If you do not listen to the show already, feel free to find us on Facebook at Grown & Dating.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 19: More Facebook

Hi Blog world,

This week, I got to work on my social media skills again; I am getting more comfortable using the new social media account page; this page makes it much easier for me to post our social media posts at once. I found out this week that you can forward messages to different groups all at once.  This helps with time management as I am busy with all different kinds of tasks for my internship. This week, I posted a flyer for a Christian concert that will be happening in November.

Another one of my tasks is to join groups that help us reach our mission of our magazine or the radio show.  It gives me an idea of what kinds of groups I should be joining to help me with my professional Facebook page.

I worked on writing down some ideas I had for my professional blog; I really want to take after my supervisors lead and have an active blog and Facebook page.  It’s going to take some time to get to the point that she’s at; however, I know I can get there.

This past Thursday, I got to listen to my supervisor’s Grown and Dating radio show; the topic was on Celibacy 101, and it was nice to hear other people’s opinions on the topic; it also gave me some insight of how a radio show is run.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 18: Facebook

Hi Blog world,

This week was a busy week; I got to continue what I love the most working on social media.

This week, my supervisor and I created a new  Facebook page where we can post events that are coming up to different groups that we follow.

I learned how to forward messages, such as  flyers or videos, to different groups at the same time so that way I don’t have to send out the event flyer  or video to every single group at a time. This new skills is a real-time saver. I am really enjoying working with our social media websites; and this skill is helping me learn what I can do to reach a broader audience for my blog.

One of my personal goals for this year is to gain 100 followers. I know its going to take time, however I know this goal can be reached.

I also worked on creating an Excel sheet for different contact information; this is because my other Excel file did not save properly. Now that it is saved in a more readable format, it’s easier to find the information that we need; that’s what I like about using Google Drive is it’s easy to edit and save documents.

A Day of thrift shopping

Hi Blog world,

This Saturday was a lot of fun because I went out to eat with a group of friends; then a friend of mine and I hit some thrift stores.

We started our day at a Chinese restraint called, Jin-Jin; All eight of us had the buffet. I had a lot of food that was not on my no, “White Food Diet,” I had sweet and sour chicken, dumplings, French fries, soft donuts, and ice cream. All the food was fresh and hot when we got it. The price wasn’t bad either; it was only around seven dollars.

After we all had our fill we said our goodbyes, and my friend and I headed to our first stop. I looked at clothes, and I fell in love with a soft flowing gray dress! I think it would be perfect to do an interview it.

My new dress.

I needed some shorts; and I found two pair. My bill ended up being $12; not bad for what I got.

After we dropped our friend off, we went to another store that I had never been to before. We had fun looking at more clothes; however, we didn’t buy anything. Our last stop was a local Walgreens; I got some candy. It was a fun day.

My internship with She’s social: Week 17: more contacts

Hi Blog world,

This week was a busy one. I had to collect more magazine contacts; and boy, there were a lot of them! The hardest part for me was that some of the magazine contacts were not accessible to me on their website, or they did not have any contact information listed at all. Luckily, for me, there was a lot of contacts that needed to be collected.

When I first started looking at the list, I felt overwhelmed, however I persevered and I was able to get the list completed.

Besides, doing the contacts, I wrote a short bio for the “About me” section of our website. For me that was the most exciting part of my week. This is because I was able use my writing process skills. I first sat down and brained stormed what I wanted to tell the audience, then I wrote a short draft. After I wrote my first draft, I took a day and thought about what I wrote. I edited the bio, and was able to tell what I love to do to help make She’s Social shine as a company.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 16: Contacts

Hi Blog world,

This week was a short week; during this week I collected contact information for advertisement companies. This was an easy task for me because I knew where to look up the information. A lot of the websites that I used to look up the information had a page where the contact information was easy to locate. I love using Google Documents because its easy for me to enter, edit, save and share all the information my supervisor needs all in one space.

One thing that is helping me stay on track with my time-management is having a to-do list right by my computer. Each day I write three goals for myself; With this to-do list I’m learning how to set priorities, and  how to achieve the most important ones first. I am learning how to achieve a great work-life balance.

For the rest of the week I had the week off; it was nice to have a few days off to rest, and enjoy the nice Florida sunshine outside. I enjoy getting some exercise by going for walks. Getting fresh air helps me relax and helps me set both personal and work related goals for myself.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 15: Taking continuing educational classes

Hi Blog world,

This week was an enjoyable one because I got to learn about sales and marketing by listening to Zig Ziglar. I now have a basic understanding of how the world of marketing and sales work.

Another motivational speaker I listened to this week was Les Brown. I liked his speeches because he spoke about letting the past go, and that we need to do this to set clearer goals for the future; I personally, struggle with letting the past go. In fact, many of my family and friends say I live in the past. I’m neither here in the present nor am I setting goals for the future.  This made me sit down with a notebook and think.

What impressed me and helped me the most was hearing a lecture on how to set goals, having good leadership skills, and how to determine personal success.

I feel that I now have a clearer understand of what I want to achieve for the next few months to a few years down the road. It’s going to take a lot of hard work; however I’ll get there.
