My Internship with She’s Social: Week 25 & 26: An Update

Hi Blog world,

This week I wanted to do two blog posts into one because it’s been a long two weeks. Last week, I had to get my computer to a shop because it was having some issues. Once it was returned to me I got to do what I love to do-put out events via social media. I posted an event about an art show that is coming up in January. I also created an Excel sheet to help keep things organized. I like our new method of having the name of the group on the right side of the Colum with the dates that I post on to the left of it. This is going to help me keep my posts organized and for me to be more productive.

This week I’ve also been working with social media and posting about the art show. I have another social media project that I was assigned and I’m eagar to get started on it.

I’ve also been organizing the groups we post in by using an Excel sheet. One of the hardest things about doing this project is getting organized because the groups keep changing order. So I’ve decided to print out the chart I have now and to go down the list of groups that we follow and check them off; as I find ones that I haven’t added to the list I will write them down manually then add them to the list electronically.

Once all these projects are completed, on Friday, I’m going to be on break for two weeks. I’m excited!

With that I would like to take the time to thank all of my readers and subscribers for following my blog. I look forward to blogging all about my adventures in 2017….Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

My internship with She’s Social: Week 24: Research and clerical skills

Hi Blog World,

The week after Thanksgiving has been a busy week. On Wednesday, I had to use my clerical skills by using Google calendar to schedule a few meetings for my supervisor; I liked learning how to use Google calendar because I’ve never done this before. It took me a few minutes to learn how to see what days were open for my supervisor, however once I got used to the format, I was able to complete the assignment without any problems.  This skill will help me in the future for when I have similar assignments; I’m going to learn more about how to schedule appointments when I have training this month. I’m eager to go through the training for this month, so I can learn more about clerical and writing skills that will help me become a better writer.

I had to do some basic research on some topics that are trending on social media. The one that caught my eye the most was about a young judge. I liked this assignment because it reminded me that you can do anything-no matter what goal you have for your life, you can achieve it if you work hard at it.

Thanksgiving 2016

Hi Blog world,

First thing I would like to say is I hope each and every one of you had a long and restful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and friends.

I had an amazing week! On Saturday, I went with a friend to see the movie The Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. It was an amazing movie, and I even saw it in 3D. I highly recommend going and seeing the movie because the graphics are so cool, and Eddie Redmayne is a great actor.

Fast forward to Wednesday and I spent the day shopping with a friend. We were looking for a bike for me; however I haven’t been able to find one yet. I’m still hopeful and I’ll keep looking. I took this time to do a little Christmas shopping for my family and friends.  I’m so happy that I’m almost done with my shopping, and I’m ahead on my Christmas cards.

Thanksgiving was a quiet but wonderful day; my family and I had ham with all different kinds of sides. It was a great meal and I was stuffed.  What was your favorite part of Thanksgiving this year? Tell me in the comments below.

I would like to end this blog with telling you guys what I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for my grandparents, my friends and for my readers of this blog.

My internship with She’s Social: Week 23: An Easy Week

Hi Blog world,

This week was a very good week as an intern! I say that because this week went very fast. On Monday, it was a short day, all I had to do was find some information about social media and how magazines use them to gain an audience. Learning about social media and how to use it effectively; I got done early that day so I took the rest of the day off (with my supervisor’s permission).

Then on Wednesday, we had a luncheon meeting; we both enjoyed the meeting and our food. During our meeting, we talked about goals for the rest of the year as well as next year. I’m excited what the New Year is going to bring for the magazine.

The rest of the week, I just had to transcribed notes from the meeting that we had on Wednesday; it was good for me to review what we had discussed and to write down some goals for me to work on once I get back from vacation. …Well, I’m going to go plan my week of rest and relaxation since that’s what a vacation is all about.

My Internship with She’s Social: Week 22: Posting a concert video to Facebook

Hi Blog world,

This week was a short week for me because I took one personal day off and because of the holiday.  This week I worked on posting a Christian concert that would be going on this week.

I feel that I finally have a good technique for being able to post the videos and flyers quickly and effectively. I went onto our groups, and because I’m always looking and adding more groups to our page, I was able to decide which groups needed to be sent the video. I find it easier for me to write down the names of the groups rather than for me to search for them in the send to group page.

The first day of sending the video out when great, and I was happy with the progress I made. I had a plan of who else I needed to send the video to the next day. However on the second day, there was a technical problem with our Facebook page. I had to use a different account, and I was able to complete the assignment without any problems.

My Internship with She’s Social: Week 21: Becoming more confident with social media: Facebook

Hi Blog world,

This week was a busy one to say the least. I’ve been working very hard learning how to manage our social media Facebook page more effectively; and I’m happy to say, despite some technical issues I’m getting more and more confident in my ability to post and to a wider audience.

My tasks for this week were to post a Christian concert that is going to be going on next week. This task was very easy for me to do since I now have some organization to it. I went into the groups and selected the groups that would be a great fit for this concert; then I went to the concert video and one by one sent that video to the group that I selected.  I find that keeping a notepad nearby and writing down who I sent it to is a very good way to keep track of the number of people I sent it to.  Once that task was fulfilled, I started to look for more groups to follow; and I’m happy to report I found a lot!

The second task didn’t turn out like I needed it too. I was supposed to send out reminders for the radio show that is going to be airing on Thursday; however Facebook sent me a message saying that there was a problem with posting. I had to email my supervisor, and the error is going to be fixed, and my schedule for the deadline for this task was adjusted.  In the meantime, I went back to posting the concert.

Even though I had a tough time with the second assignment I still had a great and productive week.

A Day of Hope: Nystagmus Awareness Day

Hi Blog world,

As the title says, today, November 2, is Nystagmus Awareness Day, also known as “Wobbly Wednesday” to my British Friends,  it is a day of hope for me.

Nystagmus, for those of you who don’t know, is an eye condition where my eyes move back and forth. There is no cure for this condition, and its often misunderstood by the general public.

For people from our Nystagmus community we use this day as a fundraiser; these funds are used to help find a cure and the causes of the different kinds of Nystagmus (Congenital and Acquired) .  Not only do we use this day to help raise funds for the medical community; The Nystagmus community provides support for parents of children who have this condition, support for family members who may know someone in their family who is affected by Nystagmus, and peer-to-peer support for people who live with the condition.

For many parents whose babies are just diagnosed with the condition, they are concerned and want what’s best for their child; they often worry about their child’s future; for those of us who lived with the condition since birth,  we can offer tips and advice to help the child have the best possible future.

As for the people who have Nystagmus they offer peer-to-peer mentoring, which offers advice for things that may be a struggle, such as, not being able to drive, how to disclose their Nystagmus during a job interview and  other topics, with the peer-to-peer mentoring and the right support from teachers, parents, friends, family, and the medical community people with Nystagmus can have a full and active life.

For more information about Nystagmus and what you can do to support the community or  a loved one affected by this condition please visit:

Thank you for your support on the very special day.
